Ingredients

For the Dough
  • 3 cups bread or plain/all-purpose flour This gives the bread its delightful structure.
  • 2 tsp instant or rapid rise yeast Fast-acting yeast ensures your dough rises quickly.
  • 2 tsp cooking/kosher salt Enhances the flavor and balances the sweetness of the dough.
  • 1.5 cups very warm tap water Helps activate the yeast, making the dough rise beautifully.
For Dusting
  • 1.5 tbsp flour Dust the surface to prevent the dough from sticking.

Equipment

  • large bowl
  • parchment paper
  • Oven
  • Dutch oven

Method

Directions
  1. In a large bowl, whisk together 3 cups of flour, 2 tsp of instant yeast, and 2 tsp of salt until well blended.
  2. Pour in 1.5 cups of very warm tap water. Stir gently until the ingredients are fully combined, creating a sticky dough.
  3. Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and set it in a warm area for 2-3 hours until the dough has roughly doubled in size.
  4. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C). This temperature ensures a wonderfully crisp crust.
  5. Turn the risen dough onto a well-floured surface and gently shape it into a ball.
  6. Place your shaped dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet or inside a preheated Dutch oven.
  7. Dust the top of the dough with an additional sprinkle of flour and let it rest for about 30 minutes.
  8. Pop the bread in the oven and bake for 30-42 minutes, until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
