Baking Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Mix the dry ingredients in a bowl: combine all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Cream the butter and sugars together until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg, milk, vanilla extract, and red food coloring until combined.
- Gradually combine the dry ingredients with the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Prepare the cream cheese filling by beating cream cheese, powdered sugar, and almond extract until smooth.
- Scoop a portion of cookie dough, flatten it, add a spoonful of cream cheese filling, and wrap the dough around it.
- Roll into a ball and coat lightly with granulated sugar.
- Place on the baking sheet, flatten slightly and bake for 13 minutes.
- Let cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.
