How to Make Cheesy Pesto Christmas Trees
  1. Preheat your oven according to the puff pastry instructions, aiming for 400°F.
  2. Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheets on a clean, lightly floured surface.
  3. Spread the basil pesto evenly over each tree shape.
  4. Sprinkle the grated mozzarella or tasty cheese generously on top of the pesto.
  5. Place the pastry trees on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Brush the edges of each tree with the beaten egg using a pastry brush.
  7. Sprinkle sesame or poppy seeds on top, if desired.
  8. Insert small skewers or pretzel sticks into the bottom of each tree.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes until golden and puffed.
