How to Make Cheese and Prosciutto Croissants
  1. Thaw the frozen puff pastry overnight in the refrigerator.
  2. Preheat your oven according to the puff pastry instructions, typically around 400°F.
  3. Roll out each sheet of puff pastry on a lightly floured surface, then cut them into triangles.
  4. Spread thinly sliced butter over each triangle.
  5. Whisk together heavy cream or whole milk, eggs, Dijon mustard, and fresh thyme leaves in a bowl until well combined.
  6. Layer shredded Gruyère and Gouda cheese, along with slices of prosciutto, onto each pastry triangle.
  7. Roll each triangle up starting from the wide end towards the point. Place them seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Brush the tops with the cream mixture you prepared earlier, and sprinkle lightly with coarse sugar.
  9. Bake according to the puff pastry instructions, usually around 30 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed up.
